A final goodbye to Woodfields

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

After the last Woodfields Summer Fair that took place on Saturday,26th June 2010 we held a ceremony to celebrate and bring to a close our time on this beautiful`Woodfields`site. We blessed the future of The Waldorf School of South West London and celebrated its past 25 years. This picture shows the hands of Pat, one of the first teachers at our school, protecting a candle taken from the central flame representing the strong spirit of our school community.

Many thanks to everyone in the Community who worked on our Summer Fair 2010. The 26th June was a boiling hot and thoroughly memorable Saturday. The music, the raffle, the BBQ, the cafe, face painting, the maze, the wool workshop, the carousel (!) and the dragon. Thank you to every hard worker and to all the many visitors who came.

Children love to see parents, friends and grandparents working alongside staff, plus it makes a great first day back to school.

Class 8 makes it to Romania

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Bucegi mountainsSkiing in Romania – what a wonderful idea! Class 8 (13 and 14 year olds) returned last week, after a busy 7 day trip which involved learning to ski on various slopes in different resorts, sledging, hiking in the snowy weather, visiting castles (Dracula’s and Peles) and the medieval remains of towns – plus snowmobiling. A just reward for all that fundraising they did to achieve it ~ well done to this amazing group of young people for getting there under their own steam.

Spring is on the way

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

crocusA happy sign that Spring is on the way from the kindergarten garden. Our little ones will have planted this crocus back in November, perhaps after a song about a little brown bulb asleep in the ground. Children aged 3 – 6 immerse themselves in doing, so engaging them in regular seasonal activities means that they inadvertently learn about the cycle of the year whilst having a lot of fun.

winter wonderland at school

igloo

Cold weather news: Class 1 made a super snowman but the star of the show was the snow igloo made by older children. Despite the winter weather children, parents and teachers made great efforts to carry on – hot chocolate all round!

Our amazing work day

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Doll's bucketWe had a work day at the school on 5th January 2010, when teachers, parents and friends of the school got together to make the buildings ready for the new term – such cleaning, scrubbing and hammering! A great turnout . What’s more two pupil chefs from class 7 (aged 13) cooked lunch – a huge cauldron of delicious soup! Thanks to everyone who took part!
